Causes
Pesticides

-Neonicotinoids are a form of revolutionary pesticides that are sprayed on seeds before planting

- After exposure bees will have difficulty returning to their colonies and will eventually die

-Commercial honeybees have shown a decrease in sales due to 70% traces of neonicotinoids detected in their collected pollen and honey

Climate Change

-Flowers are now blooming at earlier times than normal due to warmer temperatures

-Bees have limited nectar to feed on, no energy to pollinate

-Flowers lose reproduction opportunities in the same given year.

Deformed Wing Virus

-(DWV) is an RNA-type virus caused by parasites known as varroa mites

-The mites attach themselves on bees through feeding or reproduction

-2,000 varroa mites can cause the death of 30,000 honeybees

-Primarily spread from the bee trade in Europe
